We are so proud to unveil our first finished library in Recano Sao Jose. This all wouldn’t be possible without the help of our partners at ASA and we hope that this is the first of many projects to come.

Library #2 is finally finished! It was amazing to get to be around such incredible people and create something amazing. This was the first time we've been able to walk the kids through the goal of the project and the library and it definitely won't be the last.

Library #3 has arrived! We had such a fun time at ASA Pássaros and loved the layout of the library. A special thank you to Michele Santos for her amazing help!

Library #4 was a blast to work on. It was amazing to get to meet and work with Gabriela Reis (middle) Jhennifer Rodrigues (far left), who cared as deeply for this project as I do!

Library #5 is done! My absolute favorite part was being to join the kids during their lunchtime and talk about the project and what they thought of it, needless to say, they loved it!

Dona Castorina Cavalhero School (August 2021)

Vila Prudente 1 (July 2022)

Library #7!

Thank you to Alice Martins Ferreira (middle) and Juliana Zancheta (right). This school has an English Project (Language Study Center) which aims to allow students the ability to learn the basic structures and grammar via topics such as the workplace, school, and leisure time. Their goal is also for a student to be able to produce a simple, consistent, conversation about matters that are familiar or of personal interest to them. They should also be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, as well as learn how to briefly state reasons and justifications for a thought or opinion.

Target audience: Young people from 15 years old.

FEUSP (July 2022)

Library #9!

Thank you again to Alice Martins Ferreira (left) for the warm welcome and support. This library is located inside the School of Application of FEUSP and serves the school community, which is made up of teachers, students, and employees. The English course is offered to elementary school and high school students. Teachers have the ability to schedule their classes in the space and use the library's collection where they can do a guided activity or free reading. They serve students of all levels which can span from beginners to others who are already able to read more complex novels. Every week, in the afternoon, around 300 students participate in projects accompanied by Elementary School teachers (storytelling, collection consultation, and weekly loan of books). Their goal is to have a diversified collection to provide and present different linguistic repertoires.

EE. ALEXANDRE DE GUSMÃO (JULY 2022)

Library #10!

Their project is aimed at assisting public school students. English is offered to high school students (from 15 years old) and lasts for 1 year. The student's level of English is basic, and few seek advancements in knowledge outside of school, mostly due to the fact they cannot afford it. Their classes seek, in addition to advancing learning, to encourage the search for more knowledge.

EE. ALBINO CESAR (AUGUST 2022)

Library #11!

Special thank you to Ana Paula de Oliveira Lopes Vieira (left) and Victor Severo (right). The Mission Language Study Center (CEL) aims to provide elementary and high school students with different opportunities to develop new forms of linguistic expression, via enrichment of the school curriculum and access to other cultures. They serve students from the state network, who study between the 7th year of elementary school and high school, in the range of 11 to 18 years old. Since most of their students are residents of neighborhoods close to the school, the demand for language courses at CEL is motivated by curricular enrichment and qualification for the job market.

EE. LANDIA SANTOS BATISTA (AUGUST 2022)

#Library 13!

Some public schools in São Paulo, like this one, have an interal school project, where students have more opportunity and time to learn. During our visit we were welcomed by the "school welcomes", a group of student volunteers who introduced us to the whole school and spoke with excitement of the opportunities that studying English can bring them. Their enthusiasm towards the little english corner was contagious and unforgettable.

#Library 18!

Our visit to Helena Zerrenner was truly unforgettable! We were greeted with warm a welcome from the school's student representatives along with little succulents and a tour of this amazing facility. I was able to truly bond with the students and talk about the differences of living in the US versus Brazil and got to learn how English has made an impact on each of them. It was inspiring to see the steps each of them had taken to further their learning, with one student planning to teach English to younger grades next year and another showcasing her talent by singing us a song in English!
